Q) Why doesn't the food spoil?
A) In a Hostess the food is kept at a temperature such that it does not cook anymore, it is just kept hot without risk of drying out or spoiling.
Q) How long can I keep the food hot?
A) You can keep most foods hot in a Hostess for 2 hours or more, depending on the type of food. Some dishes, such as chilli, curry or casserole taste even better when kept in a Hostess for up to 4 hours.
Q) How long before I need it do I switch it on?
A) Turn your Hostess on 20 minutes before you need it.
Q) What type of dishes should I use?
A) On Hostess models with a heated top tray, foods on the top surfaces should be kept in flat-based dishes. That maximises heat transference from the products to the dish. Remember also to use covered dishes to ensure the best results.
Q) Can I use my own china plates and dishes?
A) Yes indeed. However, you must ensure that these are placed on or in the product before it is switched on. If you do not thermal shock could damage your dishes. Bone china- if you already put this in your own oven then it will be perfectly satisfactory for your Hostess.
Q) When should I use my Hostess?
A) Family meals, buffets, BBQ's, informal evenings, takeaways, entertaining..you soon find you use it everyday, whatever model you use.
Q) Can I get wood swatches/samples of the various Hostess finishes?
A) Unfortunately, the manufacturers do not supply these, instead they have produced a brochure containing photography that mirrors the exact colours and styling of the various Hostess's available. These images you can view by looking at the products section of this site.
